Gurjit brings an academic, business, and governance background. Gurjit has over a decade of teaching experience with Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia and as a sessional professor. Beyond her teaching experience, she has been working with colleges and universities as an educational consultant, specifically focusing on learning disabilities, including ADHD. Her gentle and non-judgemental approach to students creates a safe and trusting container for students. She leads skill development and transitional support by being an excellent communicator, reliable and consistent communication with staff and students, and thinking outside the box to create individualized plans to meet each student’s unique needs. Her strength-based approach to developing learning improvement plans and delivering content-driven training for staff and students has been well recognized, instilling confidence. Her empathy and kindness towards each student, as noted by our students, is a testament to her commitment to their growth.
Gurjit’s prior experience has been in business management, including operations, governance, and business development. As a former Chief Executive Officer and founder of a public practice accounting firm, she worked mainly with small private corporations to advise on business process improvements, strategic direction, and engagement. Her business background, combined with her entrepreneurial experience, aids in understanding student development.
Gurjit holds a Master of Education, an Applied Learning Disability Graduate Certificate, and a Chartered Professional Accountant Certification.
